Christmas Cupcakes, How to!

Hey everyone!

Today I made THE most delicious cupcakes of ALL time. I mean they were pretty tasty, but I cant say I have tried every cup cake in the world, but y’know, I aim to.

It was a really easy method, and I am going to show you, how to.

You will need:

A can do attitude

100g Plain Flour

20g Cocoa Powder

150g Caster Sugar

a pinch of salt

40g of butter (I used Stork, and it has to be at room temperature)

120ml Whole Milk

1 egg

1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract

Cupcake cases

Step one:

Preheat your oven, (a part that I always forget) to 170C (325F) Gas 3

Step Two: 

Pop your flour, Cocoa powder, Sugar, Baking Powder, Salt and butter in a bowl, and either whisk it, use an electric hand whisk/ electric Mixer.

Step 3:

Whisk the milk, egg and vanilla extract together in a hug, then slowly pour about half into the flour, mixture, beat to combine and turn your mixer/whisk up to high speed. Mix for a couple more minutes, and the mixture will be smooth! But make sure you don’t over mix it!

Step 4: 

Put your mixture into cupcake cases, and pop into the oven for around 20-25 minutes, or until they’re done! (check this by sticking a knife or a skewer into the centre, and if it comes out clean, then your cakes are ready to go!) Leave to cool before you decorate!

For the Stars:

55g Sugar

180g Flower

125g sugar

Rolling Pin

Cookie Cutters (Optional)

Step one:

Beat the Butter and the Sugar together until smooth.

Step two:

Add in your flour, until made into a smooth paste.

Step Three: 

Grab a rolling pin, and sprinkle a bit of flower onto the surface, and I always sprinkle a little on the rolling pin, and then start to roll out the mixture. Use your cutters to create shapes, or cut out the shapes you want! Be sure to include some small triangular shapes to hold up your stars on your cake, or whatever you decide you want on the top of them! Pop them in the oven, and then wait for about 10-20 mins for them to be done!

For the Decoration:

I cheated and used Betty Crocker’s cream cheese frosting but you can use whatever you like)

I used a piping bag, and a nozzle to create the swirled look on top of the cake, easily accessible from your local supermarket, Ebay, or even a pound shop sells disposable ones!

Writing Icing, I used Red, Green and Yellow.

Finally, add some sprinkles, use some chocolate, some multicoloured, it’s entirely up to you, be creative and experiment a little!
