Hey there!

I trust everyone is recovered from their Easter food coma? I am- just about. I thought as it was Easter weekend, I’d have it as my break and then get back to blogging this week, and right back onto my blogging every two days theme I have going on right now.

I swear, I will do my favourites post on Saturday, because I feel like it’s been sooooo long and I have some great picks for you guys that I’m sure you will love just as much as me.

However for now, it’s going to be a lifestyle post. For so long now I’ve seen ‘100 Happy Days’ posts knocking around on Facebook and in the blogosphere and I’m not going to lie it’s always something I’ve wanted to do, but I was a little afraid that I might not have 100 days?! However, I’ve come to the conclusion that this is just a way to give myself a happy moment everyday, and alongside blogging it, I’m going to be sharing a video of the ‘100 Happy Days’ at the end of it! I thought it would make a nice compilation video, and a nice little project to invest some time in. If this is something you’d be interested in following, then make sure you let me know because if that’s the case- let’s start as soon as.

I will still be doing my ‘every two-day posts’ but I will just incorporate a short snippet each day of what my happy moment was.

I’d like to encourage as many people as possible to join me in this, and I know it might be a stretch, but if you could film a snippet of your day to day life and happy moment send them to me and I can compile them! I saw a video similar in nature on YouTube and absolutely LOVED it, so I would love to make one for all of us to feature in.

I Quit my job? |Lifestyle

Hey everyone,

If you didn’t guess it, the beautiful flowers in the image above are flowers to make me feel better. This is a weird one. Originally, I had another blog post planned, but things as you know don’t always go to plan.

So, let’s get to talking about what happened today. I work, well worked* for a social media company, and for a while I really loved it. I loved having the 9-5 working pattern, I  enjoyed what it was I was doing, and I thought I had it made because the people I worked with are really nice.

After a while, I felt myself being less and less creative, I wasn’t posting on my blog, my ideas were slowly disappearing and all I was focusing on was finishing work. I started counting down the minutes until 5pm, looking forward to the weekend far too much and getting that ‘Sunday dread’ where you really really don’t want to go in tomorrow morning.

Anyway after a month or so of this, I decided that it wasn’t for me, my heart wasn’t really in it, I would so much rather work toward being my own boss and I just felt like I couldn’t really do it there. So, with much deliberation I handed in my notice, which meant that I had to work my notice period of 3 months (I know, soooo long!) so it didn’t feel like this immediate relief I was expecting, it just kind of felt the same.

I was feeling really miserable going in, and I found myself crying in the toilet whilst I was in work because I just hated it so much, and that’s really sad. I have no job prospects, and not a lot of money saved, so really I don’t know what I’m doing. However, today I felt I just had no choice, I went in and my manager asked to talk to me, and I was like yes sure, following him out of the office in a good mood at work (for once!) and it just wasn’t a conversation I was happy about. I think it just brought to life everything I was feeling, in regards to how I was being treated differently from other staff members, and how I had started to feel like this definitely wasn’t the place for me to work anymore.

There’s so much more as to why I quit my job, but it’s just too long to write down. However, I felt like if you wanted something real to read, and to see that you don’t always have to do something you hate. If something or someone is making you that miserable, don’t just quit, try and resolve it first like I did, but if in the end it gets too much I don’t want you to ever feel stuck.

Alternatively, I wrote this to vent, and thought it would be some kind of solace to you if you are having a really bad day, to read this and think wow maybe today isn’t too bad and we can laugh at the horrendous day I’ve had together. 😊

So yes, I write this currently unemployed but feeling more calm then I have in a while. What a strange feeling?

A Day In My Life. | Lifestyle

Hey everyone,

I’m glad to see you’ve popped back to have a read, and if you’re new to my blog, then get yourself a cuppa and make yourself right at home.

If you haven’t noticed, I’ve decided to post every two days now going forward, so be sure to check back!

So, right now, the weather here in Manchester is b-e-a-utiful. I love reading and watching ‘Day in the life’ posts/vlogs so I thought what better way to put all the pictures I’ve taken over the last couple of days to use then to put them all in here.

As you know from my last post on how I stay motivated, I’ve been making an effort to go to the gym and really trying to control my diet (the hardest part I’ve found) I started the day with a trip to the gym, and a coffee to reward myself afterwards. I can’t live without coffee! Who else is the same? Literally it’s so hard for me, but I’m trying to just go on one a day. With my obsessive love for coffee, has come the knowledge of where to get the best one- Carluccios. (Yes, your read that right!)

I then went on to wander my way home, which is a 20 minute walk- so not too long, but if you walk the right way you catch just the right picture. A lot of people who haven’t been to Manchester have this pre-conception that everyone has Oasis hair cuts, The Smiths play in the streets and you can probably catch people saying ‘Our kid’ every other sentence. However, apart from all that it’s just a pretty great place to live if you love the city life, it’s just a beautiful place. (Okay, I’ll stop talking about Manchester now…)

After deciding that I was tired, and really didn’t want to walk any where else, I lay on the grass outside and took in the sunshine. The best part about this was that living in Manchester it’s rare you can ever lie down on the grass, without getting a wet arse because it’s either been raining- or god knows what. Also, you never really get sun here and when we do we all pile into ‘Oyster Bar’ just off Deansgate and drink pints for under £4.00 (Legit, that’s what we actually do)

So far, I’ve been to the gym, lay on the grass and walked home. So now it’s time for the most important thing, a Sunday roast. I met Brett after work, and we headed to ‘Refinery’ where they served an incredible Sunday roast, and we sat with a bev enjoying the last bits of the sun, and hoping it would come back for the walk home. (It didn’t, it went back to Manchester’s favourite colour- grey) 👇

After that, we pretty much nursed our food coma’s back to health by relaxing on the sofa and watching rubbish TV. A perfect end to a perfect day.

My Top 3 Tips On How To Get Motivated. | LIFESTYLE

Hey there,

Sit back relax, and get ready for an uplifting chat about how to organise your thoughts and your schedule.  So let’s get this started.

Has anyone ever shut your ideas down because they’re not ‘realistic’? That’s happened to me before- a lot of times.

I am reading a book currently called ‘She means business’ and in there is a quote that really resonated with me, it said:

‘What’ and ‘if’ are harmless words, however when you put them together side by side, they have the power to haunt you for the rest of your life’

Not only did this quote make me think about myself and the direction I was headed, it reassured me that if the path I’ve taken is the one where I follow my heart, then no matter the outcome- it was the right decision to make.

I thought I would share with you 3 of my top tips to give you some motivation, (aside from your morning coffee, we all need one of those!) to get the ball rolling in whichever direction it is you have been avoiding for all of the wrong reasons.

1. – A HAPPY AND HEALTHY MIND AND BODY –

This one doesn’t sound as important as it actually is to some people, me included. Lately I’ve been going to the gym, eating healthy (with the occasional treat of course!) and I think that it’s made a huge difference not only in my confidence but in the organisation of my thoughts. Who new that the best therapy derived from exercise and healthy eating? I mean, I’m never going to be the girl who says no to some chocolate and boasts this incredible willpower to defy my cravings, I just can’t do that food is too good, so don’t knock it. However, it’s always good to have a little detox every now and then and to try and make small changes that lead to big things.

2. – DIARY –

This year marks the first year that I’ve actually kept a diary, not necessarily for my thoughts, mainly just for me to keep to a schedule and to make myself a bit more organised. I love the idea of writing things down and being able to hold a diary, I think we’re far too easily slipping into making everything so robotic and computerised that it’s almost a nice added bonus that we can hold it and skim through the pages of our scruffy handwriting, and allow our ideas to jump of the page! This would be the one I recommend the most.

3. – SEPERATE YOUR FEELINGS –

Finally, the last thing is something I’ve recently discovered.  I was watching a YouTube video, trying to muster the strength and motivation to get myself to the gym, eat healthy and become a more organised person. In the video the girl gave me 5 reasons as to why I should start the gym, and the last one was- just do it. Separate yourself from the way your emotions are swaying you, because if you change nothing then nothing changes. This is the one that gave me the determination to just chase after the Summer body I wanted, and in turn came a lot more from it.

I hope these 3 things help you discover some lost motivation, potential, or a thirst to make your ideas a reality. The most important thing I hope you get from this, is that sometimes ‘realistic’ isn’t always the mindset that gets you to where you want to be. You have to be the change you want to see, a little bit of a cringe quote but oh it’s so true.

Let’s Talk. | LIFESTYLE

Hey everyone,

I know it’s been a while, which seems like a really consistent way I start my blogs these days. Which yes, needs to change and of course I’m gong to use my time this year to be an incredibly more organised person! (Or at least I’m going to try- you know how bad I can be at that) but enough of that let’s get this going.

Since the start of the New Year, the months have flown by- literally. I have been wasting no time, however in trying new products and loving nearly all of them, which is good for me but horrendous for my bank balance. 🙃

The New Year has brought with it a lot of changes in my life, some good and some bad but all in all things are going well and I’m happily plodding along trying to bring my ideas to life in a lot of ways. For example, I’ve moved into my new flat – which is gorgeous! I’m going to do a blog post on my interior design when everything is up to scratch, because even now in its early phase of home life I’m in love with it. (Did that sentence even make sense? I hope so! haha)

Following on from that, I’ve been using my time to bring an idea of mine to life which has been fun, stressful, time consuming but an experience I’m loving. I’ll be able to tell you more about that soon enough, and I’m really excited to share it with you!

Aside from that, I’ve been working mostly. I think that switching from working nights to doing a 9-5 ‘norm’ is something I thought was definitely something I’d be thankful for signing up for. It turns out – I mean I always knew it – that the 9-5 life has run its short course, and I’m itching for more. It was a great reminder that my creativity hasn’t been lost, my ideas are still there and my work ethic to build a life I love is more ripe than ever before.

I wrote this post to update you, to say I’m not gone, and I will be more organised. I know the frustrations of checking an online blog that you like to see that it’s not been posted on for a while and you soon forget that it ever existed. I didn’t want that to happen here, and if it already has, well I hope you check back soon, because there’s a lot more to come from me.

My Top 3 Must Haves This Month

Hey everyone,

I know it’s been a while, but between New Year, my laptop breaking and just generally trying to get my thoughts together and organised, it’s been a busy one for me.

Over the last couple of months I have been trying a whole hot of new products, loving new items in my house and purchasing a lot of unnecessary things that are absolutely necessary if you ask me. (My boyfriend might tell you otherwise)

First of all I thought instead of doing a favourites post, I’d do my top 3 favourite items from the last month, this way I can really tell you in depth why I love it, and why it might be good for you.

Over on my YouTube channel I have included a range of things, so you can take a look Here to see what filled in the gaps with this months favourites.

First of all, I’m sure you’re all feeling the same way, but oh my does Winter weather hit your skin like a tonne of bricks. My skin has been extremely confused about whether it is oily or dry, but has eventually stuck to one: Oily. If you have been reading my blogs for a long time, you will know that my skin loves to play up, but is really oily and get get quite greasy at times. Therefore, I have been on the hunt for a brand new foundation, and low and behold – I found one.

  1. Kiko, Liquid Skin. (My Shade: Warm Beige)
    This foundation has not only served my well over the last month or so, but it’s really swayed my decision on how much I pay for a product. Kiko is not what I would class as drug store at all, but also something that’s much more affordable than high end, I feel as though it sits comfortably in the middle, by this I mean the foundation costs around £19.00, and you get a lot for your money. The first thing I loved about this was the packaging and the droplet applicator, I find these really handy and quite simple to use, as well as feeling like something a little more luxurious. Applying the foundation is so easy, and quite frankly, therapeutic. I’ve always loved doing my makeup, but this makes the job that much easier by its ability to blend seamlessly into the skin, so much so that I’ve switched back to brushes to apply my foundation and have no fear of the brushstroke curse (We’ve all been here). I would say that this isn’t full coverage, more like medium but easy to build without looking caked on your face. It last throughout the day, and for me powder isn’t always a necessary top up throughout the day, which is a new addition to my life and I can tell you saves a lot of time and effort. All in all, for me such a great product with a beautiful finish.

2. Morphe Palette
This palette has breathed life into my eye makeup recently, and has encouraged me to be a little more bold and a lot more adventurous with the looks I create on a day to day basis. As a creative person I love to test the limits with colour and different looks, but sometimes it can be expenive, time consuming and quite frankly in the mornings before work I don’t always have the energy (before my coffee at least). However, this beautiful palette has pushed me into doing something a bit different each day, which I love. The colour pay off and pigmentation of these is incredible, I swatch it in my YouTube video, and it is just so pleasing to watch! For the price of this, which is around £25.00 you’re getting a bargain! I’m definitely willing to purchase and invest in a few more palettes because they are stunning and allow so much creativity!

As we all know, when New Year hits us, it’s all about that diet. Or at least for those of us who have far exceeded our daily calorie intake over Christmas, and need the holiday chub to budge. I invested in a new cookbook, which you all will or should know of called : ‘Eat Smart’ written by the beautiful fitness, health and lifestyle blogger Niomi Smart. She is so motivating and incredibly good at heath and showcasing how to achieve a better lifestyle. This book has honestly been a solid kitchen staple for me since I got it, and I tried these little treats out last night, and oh my they are incredible. I have tried so many recipes out of this book, and for someone who loves a sweet treat I feel slowly but surely this may be changing my life (bold statement I know, but so true). If you can, pick this up and try some of the incredibly tasty recipes, and p.s Her YouTube channel is definitely one to watch.

I know this was only three things, but it allowed to really get into why I loved these so much, and really give you an insight into why you should be loving them as well! As I said, my YouTube channel  (Click Here) fills in the blanks for the rest of the month giving you a bit more of an idea of the stuff that’s been a staple in my life for the last month+.

I’m really happy and pleased to be blogging and writing again, and now I’ve got myself a new laptop it enables me to be a little more organised, and write a lot more!

Edinburgh Trip | Travel & Lifestyle

So if you follow me on Instagram/Twitter you will know that myself and my boyfriend decided to go on a spontaneous trip to Edinburgh, so I thought I’d do a little blog post on how it was and how we found being there.

I took some pictures of Edinburgh, and it wasn’t hard photography the place just boasts so many picturesque places, so I’ll let you have a look at those in this post as well.

The reason we decided to go was because we haven’t had a break away from home in so long, and it seemed like the perfect time of year! That and the fact it was a little surprise from Brett. We hopped on the train on New Year’s day, without even thinking that the prices of the taxis would be A LOT higher than normal, and with us not knowing where we were going in Edinburgh, that sucked up a lot of our spending money which yes was a little frustrating, but if you’re on holiday you’ve got to be willing to spend a bit more than usual.

If you haven’t been to Edinburgh I would definitely recommend, that is if you’re going to do more then just drink as in Scotland they don’t have ANY and I mean any drinks offers which makes eating out and having a few drinks after your meal an expensive part of the trip. However if you’re willing to delve into Edinburgh’s rich history, and magnificent quaint little eateries, along with streets filled with new places to see and go then you’re in luck.

We spent our trip discovering new places, exploring the streets of Edinburgh that house the most adorable independent shops and seeing what it had to offer and we were not disappointed. We ate way too much food, drank a little too much, got extremely cold whilst exploring, but had the best time.

The highlight of our trip was wandering around late at night down little alley ways, and finding the most adorable places to stop and spend time together surrounded by the locals. It was that night that we wandered to Edinburgh castle which is perched on the edge of what looks like the highest rock you have ever seen, and just glows with old history and enchants you in the dim night light. It’s here when you can see the whole of Edinburgh light up and just experience something really beautiful, when there’s no one around the castle and that was the best part of the trip in my opinion. It helped to wake up early and go shopping, where we found the most beautiful, traditional looking book shop on a small side street boasting character before you even walk through the door, it was small things like this that made out trip extra special.

We made some extremely funny memories, like the fact we went to Edinburgh Dungeons to feel like children again and experience something historic, but something that makes you laugh, however when we entered I felt so claustrophobic in there I had to leave! Which was so frustrating, but we carried on about our day and soon forgot that.

Edinburgh was a beautiful little city break away from home, which we loved. Although it was slightly expensive and I feel as though we definitely exhausted the tourist aspect of it all, we would go back to enjoy the alternative bars, the quaint little side streets that house the most charismatic places, and to drink traditional Scottish whiskey, and to obviously make more great memories.
